Hello! I'm Heather Terrence - a Certified Association Executive, a non-profit governance expert and President of Pinpoint Governance Group. I have over 20 years of experience working in the non-profit sector, most recently as Executive Director for a national trade association.
I was recently on the Board of Directors of the Native Canadian Centre of Toronto and served as Secretary and Treasurer. I now serve on the Board of Directors for the Canadian Society of Association Executives (CSAE) and Chair the Governance Committee.
Good governance is critical to the effective operation of any nonprofit. More importantly, getting it wrong can leave not only your organization exposed, but the individuals who oversee it.
Pinpoint Governance Group can help guide your organization through the complexities of governance, protecting you from legal and financial risk and reputational damage.
1. I am a governance expert that has worked in nonprofits for over 20 years.
I started my career as an Executive Assistant and worked my way up to become an Executive Director, most recently for a national trade association. I have done it all and know the nuts and bolts that are unique to nonprofits. I also serve on boards and committees so I understand the challenges volunteers face.
2. I believe that sometimes there is no one size fits all.
I pride myself in gaining a strong understanding of my client organizations to ensure that my recommendations are aligned with their unique needs, culture, structure and environment. Sometimes a leading practice does not fit in every organization so I work with clients to do what is right for them.
3. I'm loyal and hardworking.
In other works, I've got your back. Just ask my clients as I value nurturing a long term relationships in favour of a quick buck.
I am a Certified Association Executive
And a proud member of the
Canadian Society of Association Executives
